"For Shits and Giggles"

My life drawings of "Sharon".

Development

Inspired by Alice Palace (dalmation above is hers) I started to work in collage of mixed media using stitching as a creative device aswell as to fasten things together. I wrapped a tshirt around a canvas then secured it by stitching along the edges. I then painted my head shot of my hair piece using acrylics and attempted to sew back into it except the layering was too thick and kept snapping my needle. We had produced some screen prints in one of our workshops in which I incorporated my interest of photography with my new found love for blogspot :) I then decided to create a canvas using these sewn together creating a much easier surface on which to work on. I would like to develop this further by doing in-depth detail using stitching.

"For Shits and Giggles"

High Definition- Stitching

As the title suggests I focussed my visual explorations on the part of my experimentation I found most intriguing which wasn't particularly the material I was using but the way in which it was held together by such a decorative method. I then found myself attempting (I'm still learning to use a proper camera) photographing stitching.

"Fashion as Artwork" - Experimentation

Using "Fashion as Artwork" as a starting point I began experimenting with different materials including carrier bags from which I created headpieces.
